There is so much to see and do in and around Rainbow Beach. It is a popular tourist destination as well as a gateway to Fraser Island. Discover why Rainbow Beach is called Australia’s Nature Coast.
Famous for its beautiful pristine beaches, Coloured Sands and friendly dolphins, there is so much more to do. Try skydiving, learn to surf, maybe scuba diving is your thing. When you have had enough of the water why not take to the skies. We have hang gliding and parasailing or if you want to combine the two, try kite surfing.
Carlo Sandblow expands over 15 hectares, the sand mass is a brilliant spot to watch the sunrise or set. The spectacular view is a must see, along with our dunes, lakes, creeks and forests – all part of the Great Sandy National Park.
Horse riding on the beach – enjoy a wonderful horse ride along the pristine sands of Rainbow Beach, with fantastic views of the Coloured Sands, Double Island Point and Fraser Island.
Take to the water – Go swimming on our patrolled beach, or try Seary’s Creek, Poona or Freshwater Lake. We also have the Aquatic Centre or our beautiful pool. Book a fishing charter, hire a boat or take a kayak and paddle down the Inlet. Whatever you’re into we have it all.
Go fishing – Fancy fresh fish for dinner? Throw in a line and see what you catch. There is snapper, sweetlip and perch all found in our waters. You can fish from the beach, the rocks or the reef, then cook up your catch using our barbecue facilities.
Nature walks – If bush walking is more your style there are some wonderful trails with plenty of birdlife and local natives, such as goannas, lizards and bush turkeys, not to mention the wild flowers and bush lands.
Visit Fraser Island – the world’s largest sand island, stretching over 120km. Panoramic viewpoints include Indian Head, a rocky outcrop on the island’s easternmost tip, and the Cathedrals, a cliff famous for sculpted ribbons of coloured sand. It’s a camping and ecotourism destination, with beaches and swimming sites at Lake McKenzie, Lake Wabby and other freshwater pools.
Immerse yourself in the ancient rainforest at Central Station, fish on the famous 75-Five Mile Beach and soak in an outdoor natural spa in the Champagne Pools. Float down fast-flowing Eli Creek as it rushes to the beach. Trek across Hammerstone Sand Blow to swim in the fresh water of Lake Wabby.
